Death is the one inevitability that we must all face. But yet, it is something that few prepare for.
And so when that time comes, what usually happens?
- We regret not having discussed with our loved ones what their preferences are.
- We regret being forced into settling for a solution.
- We regret overpaying because we didn’t have the time to do our price comparison.

My calling to bereavement care
I saw the need for proper preplanning when my Mum suddenly passed away when I was just 18 years old. In my family, I have 5 other siblings and I am the youngest. Whilst my parents are Taoists, my siblings all come from a multi-religious background.
I have one brother that’s a church pastor, one sister that’s Catholic and another Buddhist sister that’s a strict vegetarian.
So when my Mum passed away, my Dad was faced with lots of conflicting questions and opinions from multiple well-meaning parties about the funeral rites and my Mum’s final resting place. This put a lot of pressure on my Dad and it struck me that losing a loved one is hard enough but it becomes much harder when one has to deal with so much unnecessary unhappiness.
I realised then that we should have taken the difficult but important step to discuss with my mum beforehand about her wishes.
It was with this experience in mind that inspired me to switch from my career as a banker to bereavement care so that I can be involved in helping people avoid such problems and help them to plan for the afterlife.
